Refinement of the gap:
From data and information gathered from my neighbors and local people, there some issues that need to be considered in the design:
  1. Consist of compartments for different rubbishes
  2. The compartments need to be integrated into one bin so make the bin more efficient in terms of space occupation

gathering user needs:
I gathered user needs by interviewing three neighbors and observing and interviewing two other people in the local area. Less or more they had the same problem. They solved the problem by taking the main rubbish bin outside and separating the rubbishes into designated bins, which is a awkward method. I also observed people in my local area standing outside the house with rubbish bin in one hand and separating the rubbishes into the bins. When I asked them about the chosen method they replied that they repeat it every week.

In what way might I....

Keep environment clean

Improve rubbish recycling process in recycling centers

Follow the newly and compulsory rules defined by the city council which has designated a new brown bin for each households

Make it easier to put the recyclable and non recyclable rubbishes at designated bins outside

*Separate and dispose rubbishes (recyclable, food, household waste) at home

Utilize the current bin

Transform the current bin to accommodate recyclable, household and waste food
